This weekend saw the Coronation Cup at PFi, where both TVKC and LGM were competing. It is also a weekend before the British Karting Championship begins, which gives us opportunity to understand our pace.
Practice
As we started this preparation in the dry working towards the pace we needed, it rained! – Typical British weather.
Jenson is quite confident in the rain. Not really the conditions we wanted to be testing. We were hoping for some dry testing ahead of the British round next weekend. Still, it was fun and we we’re extremely quick!
Qualifying
In the top 2 for all three wet practices. Jenson then managed to qualify 2nd on a drying track.
SUNDAY – RACE DAY – Coronation Cup at PFi
After some mega pace in the wet we had qualified 2nd for the Heats and Finals, unfortunately we had not had time to work on a dry set up and with the day being
we had to work hard and quick!

HEAT 1
Started 2nd and managed to stay on second trying to chase down the leader, dropped to 3rd on lap 4 and couldn’t keep up with the front two, had a good battle with Harvey Bacon before a coming together which ended with me receiving a 5 second penalty instantly even though I am still unsure what actually happened as no footage was shown to us and no explanation, if I was at fault I hold my hands up and apologise but on this occasion pretty sure it was a clean move, dropped me to 7th.
HEAT 2
We were still struggling to for out right pace and hung on as much as we could to the front pack but ended up 5th.
FINAL
Started the final in 5th place, a good start and I managed to work my way up to 3rd and had a great few laps battling with @oliver_spencer_karting before we both dropped a place and ended up battling for 3rd and 4th as didn’t have the pace of the front two. A very strong defensive finished seen me finish in 3rd, a penalty for a driver in front moved me up to 2nd.
A good finish leaving us knowing 90% where we are before the big weekend ahead at the British Kart Championships at Kimbolton.
